Your new (backstabbing) pal, Claude…

So this is what seems to happen in the world of AI; you blink, look away, look back and find there’s a new player on the block…

Apparently he’s been around for a couple of years now, but I’ve only just heard of this Claude fella. Claude is the AI model created by Anthropic, a company started by a couple of former ChatGPT human people, and within a couple of years has picked up multi-BILLION dollar investments from companies like Amazon which is helping it to rival ChatGPT already.

I learned about Claude when I was researching if any of the AI tools out there are able to apply the Associated Press (AP) style to text and apparently Claude is getting pretty good at this. Damn you, Claude!

I’ll ask him, I’m sure he’ll give an honest answer…

“Hi Claude, I’ve heard that you’re quite good at applying Associated Press style guide to documents, is that correct?”

“Yes, that’s correct. I am very familiar with the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook and can easily apply its guidelines to documents such as news articles, press releases, blog posts, and other types of content. The AP style is widely used by journalists, writers, and publishers to maintain consistency and clarity across their written work. Please feel free to provide me with any document you need formatted according to AP style, and I’ll be happy to review and edit it accordingly.”

Maybe you’re thinking that if this Claude chap is going to take over the industry then the only option is to buy some Anthropic stock to make money when the value skyrockets and make up for your impending job loss that way… well, unfortunately, it’s not publicly listed so, yeah, sorry about that.

I joke of course. He has a friendly interface, so this makes it difficult to really hate him. (He’s known to ‘gaslight’ users, but I’m sure he wouldn’t do that to me – I’m his real best friend.)
