Unemployed? Find a Job: 4 Tips for Success

Regardless of industry or sector, the statistics are staggering… Time and time again it has been proven that the best way to get a job is by already having a job. To harness this data, here are four powerful options that will set you up for success:

1. Get a job. Once you have a job you should find it easier to get a job.

2. Perhaps you have a job that you’ve absentmindedly forgotten about. (Check down the back of the sofa.) If this sounds like you, then you’re very fortunate. From what I’ve read, the corporate world is there, yours for the taking.

3. Think you have a job, when you don’t really have a job. If the self-delusion is powerful enough, that could be good enough. Good luck.

4. Pretend to have a job. There are no downsides to this. Pretend to be whatever you want. However, to avoid this being unethical you need to state clearly on your resume that you are an ‘Actor’ in your spare time. As long as you claim to be an actor in your spare time then you cannot be accused of lying, because if you’re in an interview and they are really digging deep into your current role, really questioning your experience, really pushing hard, and you’re feeling quite uncomfortable, you can say “As you well know, I’m also an Actor. That was me acting for the last hour. This is my spare time and so I am acting. Do not call the police.” I don’t think the police will be called.
